We currently have a great assignment for a Preconstruction Manager with one of our top clients.  As a Preconstruction Manager, you will be supporting our client, a well-respected Mid-Atlantic general contracting firm headquartered in York, Pennsylvania.  This firm specializes in servicing the senior living, urban, institutional, healthcare and higher education markets.

Job Responsibilities

The Preconstruction Manager will be responsible for managing pre-construction services, estimating, business development / client relations and overall corporate strategy.  Specific duties include the following:

  • Direct multiple functions preceding the construction phase including estimating, business development, purchasing, scheduling and contracts management
  • Manage the estimating department, and by extension, all bids and estimates
  • Ensure that estimating department is prepared for project handoff meetings to operations
  • Ensure that all risks, contractual terms and constructability issues are identified and accounted for or discussed with senior leadership
  • Work with business development to develop a bid strategy and competitive advantage for all bids
  • Manage subcontractor relationships to grow company’s subcontractor base
  • Participate in client meetings to support business development efforts

Job Requirements

Specific qualifications for the Preconstruction Manager role include the following:

  • Minimum 10 years of building construction experience
  • Minimum 7 years of estimating experience
  • Strong knowledge of commercial building operations within the senior living, medical and educational industries in the Mid-Atlantic markets
  • Strategic thinker with ability to build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors and service providers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, employees and contractors a must
