We currently have a great assignment for a Construction Accountant with one of our top clients.  As a Construction Accountant, you will be supporting our client, a commercial general contractor located in Washington, DC, and Baltimore, MD.

Job Responsibilities

The Construction Accountant will be responsible for the daily functions of finance & accounting, payroll, accounts payable & receivable, and contract management for the organization.  As a member of the management team, the Construction Accountant will engage in high-level financial analysis, planning, and forecasting for fiscal health and future economic development activities, and shall:

  • Oversee finance & accounting functions including managing accounts payable and payroll, maintaining cash flow, bank and funder relations
  • Provide financial and budget forecasting
  • Prepare and monitor budgets and audits
  • Interpret financial reports and data by reconciling balance sheets and accounts receivable
  • Manage and maintain financial accounting systems and software
  • Implement and maintain all necessary legal requirements and protocols while ensuring and maintaining confidentiality
  • Provide analysis and reports of finances and identify strategies and solutions for financial and budgeting issues
  • Provide financial analyses, planning and forecasting
  • Prepare financial reports for funding sources
  • Produce documents required for regulatory or other agencies
  • Identify and report cost and receivables information
  • Collaborate with senior management, provide leadership and strategic guidance on purchase and renewal of insurances, health and other employee benefits, operations and purchasing
  • Provide compliance oversight of leases, vendor agreements and contracts

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

Specific qualifications for the Construction Accountant role include:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting with a CPA license required (a MBA in Finance with a CPA license is preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years Construction Accounting experience, preferably working for a general contractor
  • Experience working with Viewpoint, Timberline or other similar construction software
  • Experience with efficiency improvement, planning and strategic forecasting
  • Experience providing financial analyses, forecasting, solutions and strategies
  • Experience preparing integrated financial statements, developing financial reports and identifying trends
